Estimated bathroom remodeling costs in Central Florida for 2026 run from about $5,000 for a powder room to $50,000 for a full primary bathroom, with luxury or layout-changing projects at $50,000 to $90,000 or more. The most common project, a same-layout guest or hall bath of about 5x8, typically costs $12,000 to $25,000. This guide breaks those numbers down by room type and size, then by line item, so you can build a rough estimate for your own bathroom before you call anyone.
Estimated bathroom remodeling costs by room type
Typical Orlando-area planning ranges for 2026, installed (labor plus materials). Costs vary with size, materials, condition behind the walls and permit scope.
| Room type | Typical size | Typical range |
|---|---|---|
| Powder room (half bath) | Toilet and sink, no shower | $5,000 to $12,000 |
| Guest or hall bath, same layout | About 5x8 with a tub or shower | $12,000 to $25,000 |
| Full primary bathroom | Larger room, often a separate shower and double vanity | $25,000 to $50,000 |
| Luxury primary or layout change | Any size with moved plumbing or premium finishes | $50,000 to $90,000+ |
Powder room
No shower means no waterproofing, no shower pan and much less tile. The cost is mostly the vanity and top, toilet, lighting, mirror, flooring and paint. Wallpaper, a stone vessel sink or a wall-mounted vanity can push it to the top of the range.
Guest or hall bath (about 5x8)
This is the standard bathroom in most Central Florida homes: a 5 ft tub or shower along the back wall, a toilet and a single vanity. The range covers demolition, the tub or shower surround, floor tile, the vanity, fixtures and lighting. Converting the tub to a walk-in shower is common here and typically costs $10,000 to $20,000 as a project on its own.
Full primary bathroom
Primary baths have more of everything: a larger shower, often a tub as well, a double vanity, more floor and wall tile, and more lighting. Glass enclosures and upgraded valves add up quickly.
Luxury primary or layout change
Moving the shower, toilet or tub, building a curbless shower, adding a freestanding tub or using custom cabinetry moves a project into this tier. On a ground-floor slab, moving drains means cutting and trenching concrete.
Line-item estimates
These are the pieces that make up the totals above. Use them to adjust your estimate up or down.
| Line item | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Full bathroom demolition (to studs and subfloor, debris removal) | $1,500 to $5,000 |
| Shower demolition only (tile or tub surround to studs, haul-away) | $800 to $2,500 |
| Tub-to-shower conversion | $10,000 to $20,000 |
| New custom tile walk-in shower | $10,000 to $25,000 |
| Curbless shower premium over a curbed one | About $2,000 to $6,000 |
| Retiling shower walls (standard 5 ft alcove, incl. demo, cement board, waterproofing, mid-range tile) | $4,000 to $10,000 |
| Tile installed, ceramic or porcelain | $15 to $40 per sq ft |
| Retiling a full bathroom (floor and shower walls) | $8,000 to $18,000 |
| Vanity cabinet | About $300 to $3,000+ |
| Vanity installation labor, like-for-like | $300 to $900 |
| Vanity installation with new rough-in or wall changes | $1,000 to $2,500+ |
| Stone vanity top installation labor | $250 to $700 |
| Electric radiant floor heat, small bathroom | $1,000 to $3,000 |
| Water damage behind tile or subfloor rot | Often $2,000 to $8,000+ |
Mosaics, large-format tile and natural stone run above the $15 to $40 per sq ft range for standard tile. Permit fees are set by each city or county fee schedule, usually based on the job’s value, and are included in a contractor’s estimate.
Estimated costs by bathroom size
Size changes cost mainly through tile area and fixture count, not floor space alone.
- About 20 to 30 sq ft (powder room): cost is driven by the vanity, toilet and finishes. Typical range $5,000 to $12,000.
- About 40 sq ft (5x8 guest bath): one tub or shower wall group, about 40 sq ft of floor. Typical range $12,000 to $25,000.
- About 60 to 100 sq ft (small primary): larger shower or separate tub and shower, double vanity possible. Usually low to middle of $25,000 to $50,000.
- Over 100 sq ft (large primary): more tile, more glass, more fixtures. Middle to top of $25,000 to $50,000, and higher with layout changes.
A quick way to sanity-check tile: multiply the tiled area by $15 to $40 per sq ft for standard ceramic or porcelain. A 40 sq ft floor works out to about $600 to $1,600 in tile installation before demo and subfloor prep. Shower walls cost more per foot because of the backer board and waterproofing behind them.
What moves your estimate up or down
Pushes it up:
- Moving the toilet, shower or tub drain on a slab.
- Curbless or oversized showers, multiple niches, a bench.
- Natural stone, mosaics or large-format tile.
- Frameless glass enclosures.
- Water damage, rot or old plumbing discovered during demolition.
- Older homes that need asbestos testing before demolition.
Keeps it down:
- Same layout and standard fixture sizes.
- Standard ceramic or porcelain tile, tile only in wet areas.
- A stock vanity with a pre-attached top.
- Decisions made before demolition, so there are no mid-job changes.

Hidden and Florida-specific costs
Central Florida homes have a few patterns worth budgeting for:
- Slab-on-grade foundations. Almost every ground-floor drain move involves concrete.
- Tile over drywall without waterproofing in many 1980s and 1990s homes, which often means damaged board and framing behind the shower.
- Galvanized or polybutylene supply lines in older homes, which are worth replacing while walls are open.
- Humidity. A properly sized exhaust fan vented outdoors is a small line item that protects the whole job.
- HOA rules in master-planned communities on dumpsters, parking and work hours.
Accessibility upgrades
Aging-in-place features are often priced into a remodel rather than added later. Common ones are a curbless or low-curb shower, blocking in the walls for grab bars, a handheld shower on a slide bar, a comfort-height toilet and wider clear space at the vanity. Blocking costs very little when the walls are open and much more after tile is up. A curbless shower adds roughly $2,000 to $6,000 over a curbed one.
Timeline that goes with the estimate
Plan on 2 to 6 weeks for design and ordering. On-site work runs 2 to 3 weeks for a powder room or same-layout guest bath and 3 to 6 weeks for a full primary bath, longer with layout changes. Tile and waterproofing need cure time. Shower projects have their own breakdown in our walk-in shower cost guide.
Turning an estimate into a real price
Estimates on a page get you a budget. A real price needs someone to see the room: where the drains are, what the walls are made of, whether there is damage, and what you want to change. Prime Construction measures your bathroom, prepares a 3D design rendering, helps you select materials, and then prices the actual scope.
