Bathroom remodel projects in Winter Garden

In Winter Garden, a lot of bathroom remodels are in homes built in the 2000s and 2010s, when the standard primary bath came with a large garden tub, a small fiberglass shower and a builder vanity. Those showers are now the most common source of leaks we see in Horizon West homes. Owners usually want the tub gone, a larger tiled walk-in shower with a bench and niche, and a double vanity with better storage and an LED mirror like the ones in our showroom.

What changes for a bathroom remodel in Winter Garden

Many Winter Garden homes are two stories with bathrooms upstairs over living areas, so a failed shower pan shows up as a stain on the ceiling below. We build every shower on a bonded waterproofing membrane and test drains before tile goes on. In downtown homes, older drain lines are often replaced while the floor is open. Bathroom work with plumbing changes is permitted through the City of Winter Garden or Orange County, depending on the address, and done under our own plumbing license.

Local details we plan around

  • Horizon West is unincorporated Orange County, so a Winter Garden address there means a county permit, not a city one.
  • Older homes near Plant Street may have raised floors, older drain lines and original wood floors worth protecting during the work.
  • Horizon West homes are often 10 to 20 years old, the age when builder showers, cabinets and flooring typically start failing.
  • Two-story plans in newer neighborhoods put bathrooms over living space, so waterproofing and leak prevention upstairs are a priority.

Scope

What the work includes

  • In-home measure and design

We measure the room, check where the drain, supply lines, fan and electrical run today, and ask how the bathroom is used every morning before we draw anything.

  • 3D design rendering

Your measurements become a 3D model of the new bathroom, so you can see the shower size, vanity, tile layout and niche placement before material is ordered.

  • Demolition and protection

We protect the path through your home, contain dust at the doorway, remove the old tub, tile and fixtures, and check the framing and slab underneath for water damage.

  • Plumbing under our own license

Drain relocations, new shower valves, rain heads, body sprays, double vanity rough-ins and toilet moves are handled under our Certified Plumbing Contractor license, not handed off to a stranger.

  • Waterproofing and tile

Showers get a bonded waterproofing membrane or a properly sloped pan liner, flood tested before tile. Then porcelain or ceramic tile on walls and floors, set flat with clean grout lines.

  • Vanities, tops and mirrors

Floating or freestanding vanities, including the European-style vanities and LED mirrors on display in our showroom, with quartz or porcelain tops and sinks sized to the room.

FAQ

Bathroom Remodeling in Winter Garden: questions

Do not see your question? Call us or send the estimate form and we will answer it on the phone.

My Horizon West shower is leaking into the ceiling below. Should I remodel or repair?

If a builder shower has leaked through, the pan or waterproofing has usually failed, and patching grout rarely fixes it for long. Most owners choose to remove the shower down to the studs and subfloor, dry and repair any damage, and rebuild with a bonded membrane. We inspect it and give you both options in writing.

Is Horizon West part of the City of Winter Garden for permits?

No. Horizon West is unincorporated Orange County, even though many homes there use a Winter Garden or Windermere mailing address. Building permits for those homes go to the Orange County Division of Building Safety. Homes inside Winter Garden city limits, including the historic downtown area, are permitted by the City of Winter Garden Building Department.

Can you update an older home near downtown Winter Garden without losing its character?

Yes. We often keep original trim, doors and wood floors in the rest of the house while remodeling the kitchen and baths inside the existing layout. We look at the subfloor, plumbing and wiring during the in-home visit and explain where older systems may need replacing, so the estimate reflects what a house of that age usually needs.

What's the most expensive part of a bathroom renovation?

The shower is usually the most expensive part, because it combines demolition, waterproofing, tile labor, the valve and often custom glass. Moving plumbing comes next: relocating a toilet, shower drain or sink on a slab means cutting and patching concrete. Vanities, tile choice and the amount of tile on the walls also move the number. For typical ranges, see our bathroom remodel cost guide.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Orlando?

It depends on the room and the scope more than the square footage. A powder room refresh, a guest bath that keeps its layout and a primary bath that moves drains and adds a large shower are different projects. The main drivers are plumbing moves, shower size and glass, tile type and coverage, the vanity and permits. We give a written estimate after measuring at your home, and our bathroom cost guide explains typical ranges.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

Most bathroom remodels take about 2 to 5 weeks on site once materials are in. A guest bath that keeps its layout is at the shorter end. A primary bath with slab plumbing moves, a large tiled shower and custom glass takes longer, because glass is measured only after the tile is finished. Design, selections, ordering and permits usually add a few weeks before demolition starts.
